Municipal Heritage Museum (MUPAM)

Natural spaces and buildings, as well as historical, artistic, documental and bibliographical property composes the Collection of the Municipal Heritage. In total, the collection comprises more tan 4,000 pieces. However the museum only exhibits 94, the most relevant.

The Municipal Heritage Museum, know as MUPAM, has a triple aim:

• Give value to Málaga’s historic and artistic heritage.
• Bring it close to society.
• Act as a broadcasting and supporting platform for local art, especially for contemporary artists.

The museum is divided in three rooms or “salas”, ordered chronologically. In “Sala I” we find pieces that belong to the history of the city from the 15^th to the 18^th century. In “Sala II” the collection comprises works from the 19^th century. This was a period of economical, social an cultural development for Málaga. And last, “Sala III” focuses on the 20^th century. It is the biggest collection of the Municipal Heritage Museum and we can find some of Picasso’s works, among other local artists.
